Field Notes
We have a barn on our property from the early 1800's we were told. It is quite impressive and it has a 40x50' footprint. The exterior needs work, but inside is made of beautiful chestnut beams, some spanning the entire 50' without a splice. I came across this site while looking for restoration advise. I plan to apply for your evaluation grant. We would like to put it back in use for horse and/or other agricultural uses. It is a beautiful barn, but without help soon, it may also disappear. It is so old, I would feel terrible if it came down on my watch. I think that it is great that these old barns are getting some recognition.//Maureen
