Field Notes

The large yellow saltbox barn (west side of Litchfield Turnpike) is an 18th century cow barn, and believed to have been built just before the house, which places its construction date around 1770. There is also a 19th century barn behind it that is actually an ice house (extra thick walls with sawdust as an insulator).
